The Tech Museum of Innovation is a science and technology museum located in downtown San Jose one block from the San Jose Convention Center. The museum, known locally as The Tech, has an IMAX theater and several levels dedicated to different themes. It has a number of popular exhibits that include Virtual Test Zone, Earthquake platform, Life Tech, and Jet Pack Simulator. This museum is definitely one that kids will love.

The San Jose Museum of Art is located just two blocks from the Convention Center. The museum highlights West Coast art of the 20th and 21st century. The museum strives to be Silicon Valley’s leading modern and contemporary museum. Its permanent collection comprises over 2,000 works that range from sculpture to digital media to paintings.

Located just blocks north of the San Jose Convention Center, the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles has the distinction of being the first museum in the United States that presents quilts and textiles as art. The museum highlights more than 550 quilts, ethnic textiles, and garments. It also includes an extensive library of books about the process of textile making and quilt making. Selected as one of San Jose’s top ten attractions, the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles is well worth the visit.

The Children's Discovery Museum is a facility presenting interactive exhibits and displays geared toward the education and enlightenment of children and young people. The permanent exhibits include the Art Loft, the Wonder Cabinet, WaterWays, and Bubbalogna. Children will delight in all the things that they can explore and see at the Children’s Discovery Museum, which is just a few blocks away from the Convention Center.

As one of the most beautiful structures in downtown San Jose, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph is worth the visit to the Catholic cathedral. The structure stands on the site of the early St. Joseph Church and dates back to 1803. Tours of the church are available and visitors will appreciate the towering ceilings featuring painted mosaics, statuary, and beautiful stained glass windows. The cathedral is a few blocks away from the convention center.

Plaza de Cesar Chavez is a focal point for downtown San Jose. The park dates back to 1797 and is surrounded by a number of San Jose landmarks such as the Tech Museum, San Jose Museum of Art, and the Fairmont San Jose Hotel. The park, an early site of the state capitol from 1849 to 1851, is the site for cultural and artistic events. The water fountain in the park is a popular attraction for children.
