About David Lawrence Convention Center

David Lawrence Convention Center

The David Lawrence Convention Center - positioned in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the edge of the Allegheny River - opened in 1981. After a complete refurbishment in 2003, this conference center became the first of its kind in the United States to possess LEED certification. Designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, the David Lawrence Convention Center was decorated with the Supreme Award for structural engineering in 2004.

This three hundred million dollar plus attraction features a variety of uses. It offers over 300,000 square-feet of exhibit space, most of which is column-free, in addition to another 75,000 plus of extra exhibit space. A grand ballroom, measuring at 31,610 square-feet, and fifty-two meeting rooms are also found at the David Lawrence Convention Center. This conference center encompasses close to 5,000 square-feet of retail space and two lecture halls with seating up to 250 individuals.

The conference center is named after David Lawrence, an American politician who acted as the Governor of Pennsylvania and the Mayor of Pittsburgh.
