The Ohio Expo Center is near many other attractions for the curious explorer. The west end of 17th Avenue, which runs along the northern part of the fairgrounds, brings you to The Ohio State University. Any number of events may be occurring there at any given time. There are restaurants and shops of all kinds up and down High Street along the campus boundary. Walking through the quad on campus and down to Mirror Lake is scenic and pleasant. The Wexner Center at OSU is a source of exhibits, concerts and other entertainments.

The Short North has an endless array of shops, boutiques and art galleries. Naturally, there is every kind of restaurant, unique and ethnic, to restore your energy during your exploration. The Short North also goes along High Street from downtown, north to the OSU campus area. The Arena Grand Movie Theater, Bistro and Bar has eleven film choices for every age and taste and is at the north end of downtown on Nationwide Boulevard, just off High Street.

A long list of hotels, not far from the Expo Center, also fit every need and preference. Hilton and Hyatt have graced the downtown with their presence and there are smaller, more boutique-like hotels between the two. In the north part of downtown, The North Market is a real standout, just off High Street at Spruce. Along with fresh produce and flowers, choose from baked goods, dairy, deli food, fresh meat, poultry and seafood, specialty foods and international groceries and prepared foods. Cookware and gifts are offered as well. Walking around the indoor market or sitting outside to eat the treat you just bought are favorite pastimes of Columbus residents.

Upscale dining is yours to enjoy in the Short North right on High Street, and Rigsby's has valet parking. The chef/owner, Kent Rigsby, a true chef, always has something absolutely divine on the menu to make you want to come back immediately, if not sooner. Marcella's, across the street, has an Italian menu and fifty Italian wines; it is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant.

Bernard's Tavern has karaoke for the brave. The Northstar Cafe has an organic and creative menu. Posh Pets and Urban Gardener offer enticing browsing that usually leads to buying. Clothing, vintage and new, and antique furniture purveyors are part of the Short North's draw as well. There is much to choose from near the Ohio Expo Center.
