Discovery Green

Discovery Green is a 12-acre park in downtown Houston. The park has picnic areas, walking and jogging trails, dog walking area, children's playground, lake, pond where park visitors can rent remote-controlled boats, gardens, promenades, jet fountain and mist tree sculpture, and concert and performance stages. The park is also home to a Houston Public Library branch that offers free wireless Internet service. The library has indoor and outdoor reading rooms.

Minute Maid Park

Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston is home to the Houston Astros professional baseball team. The sports venue also hosts concerts and other events and behind-the-scenes group tours. The more than 40,000-seat, retractable-roof ballpark features a fine-dining restaurant, children's play area and a working replica 19th century train.

Toyota Center

Toyota Center is located in downtown Houston. It's the home arena of the Houston Rockets basketball team and Houston Aeros hockey team. Toyota Center has restaurants, bars, private clubs, lounges and even a Toyota vehicle showroom. In addition to basketball games, the Toyota Center hosts concerts and touring shows.

Downtown Aquarium

More than 200 species of marine animals live at Houston's Downtown Aquarium. The aquarium has a 500,000-gallon fish tank. There's a restaurant, ballroom, bar, exhibit space, shops and amusement park. The amusement park is equipped with a Ferris wheel, carousel, 65-feet drop ride and train. The train takes visitors through a tunnel that passes through a 200,000-gallon shark tank.

Hobby Center for the Performing Arts

The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is located in downtown Houston's theater district. The center is home to two acoustic theaters and a restaurant. The Sarofim Hall Theater seats 2,650 visitors and the smaller Zilkha Hall seats 500. The Hobby Center plays host to concerts and stage plays. Before or after performances, guests can view commissioned artwork, which is shattered throughout the center.
